Quick Follow up

In my last post I quoted an essay that made the point that piracy is a response to an inefficient systems being in place.

Given that I'd like to ask a question...

Other than the fact that its free, can anyone explain to me how p2p is a more efficient system than DRM free music sold by a company such as Amazon? By "more efficient" I'll take any definition be it technical, economic, etc...

For the record, I don't expect a response to this post so I'd like to throw out a sarcastic "that's what I thought" in advance.
